Paul Morrel was born in the parish of Trelawny, Jamaica, where he was raised in a Christian family with his siblings. He attended Duncan’s Elementary School until he moved to Kingston to attend Grantham College and completed the General Certificate of Education (GCE). In 1974 he immigrated to Canada to pursue an education in electronics, but he later transferred to social sciences. He attended York University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He later went on to complete an honors degree in social work.
Paul continues to live in Canada with his family and is engaged in social work. His past working experiences include probation and parole services, and child welfare. In 2014, he published his first book, “From This Wreck I Will Return Home”, which is set in the same parish where he was born and grew up. Outside of his work, he volunteers at the church he attends as an usher, and he is instrumental in working with families and children who are challenged by child-rearing issues.
